These versatile Turkey Apple Sliders (AIP/Paleo) can be protein for lunch, dinner, or even part of a satisfying breakfast. Bonus: hidden veggies!

Sometimes the most humble things can be the most helpful in a healing diet. Take these sliders. You may look at them, and think, Yawn. Why do I need turkey sliders?
Those of us on AIP or Paleo diets are basically eating protein, fruit and veggies. We’re always needing some easy protein choices. These babies can benefit you a couple of ways. Not only are they an easy, cost-effective protein source, but they also contain bonus fruit and veg: carrots, apples, and green onion.

So what can you do with them?
- Serve them with fresh fruit and sauerkraut for breakfast
- Freeze them, and microwave one when you need it
- Cut them up, put them in a jicama wrap, top with Avocado Cilantro Dressing
- Put them on a lettuce bun, and top with avocado slices and Refrigerator Pickles (shown below)
- Use them to top Apple Fennel Salad for a meal
- Instead of soup and sandwich, try one of these sliders next to Irish Carrot Soup
You can see that there are many ways to use this recipe! 😀

Special ingredient
One thing I like to do is introduce you to new ingredients, if you’ve never met them before. It keeps the fun in a healing lifestyle, and inspires creativity. The special ingredient in this recipe is alder smoked salt. (Wha….?) That’s right. It’s salt that has literally been smoked over alder wood. Now, you could just use plain salt, but why not try something new? 😀

Hiya! I’m so glad you liked them. And thank you for taking the time to circle back and write! 🙂
I just made this along with the avocado cilantro dressing & WOW…delicious!! I had to post right away. I’m always looking for turkey recipes since according to my genotype (I took the test for the diet), I should be eating more of it along with salmon. I think I ate through all of your turkey recipes…I did notice the Ugly Soup wasn’t tagged but I’ll put it on my next shopping list. Any more you think I might have missed? Any upcoming in the spirit of Thanksgiving? 👀 Love your recipes!💕
Hi, Renee! Yes, there are more turkey recipes! Ugly Soup is a good one, and there’s also Cranberry Orange Meatballs. They make a great Thanksgiving appetizer, or lunch: https://wendisaipkitchen.com/2020/10/29/cranberry-orange-meatballs/ If you’re ever looking for a specific ingredient, you can type it in the search bar at the top of my site, and it will pop up for you. Thank you for taking the time to write! 🙂
Hi Wendi! I did use the search button before & 3 Turkey recipes came up & then sweet potatoes, strawberry milkshake, fig chutney, chicken drumsticks…..Now I look again if I scroll past those recipe listings I then see the soup & cran orange meatballs. I’ll have to scroll down farther next time. I’ll be sure to make those 2 recipes as well! Thank you!
